Making with the apologies…and the pix.

I realize I have been horribly amiss when it comes to updating this blog. Two weeks! Two weeks, I tell you. And I promise I have a very valid excuse for it.

I’ve spent most of my time fighting off–none too successfully–a blasted cold. It was the kind of cold that had me not eating much of anything at all and certainly not in the mood to photograph these things I was not eating much of at all. Fortunately, I took pictures of the food I had made a few days prior being struck down by Demon Cold. There aren’t really recipes for these dishes because they were sort of a slapdash suggestions from Mark Bittman.

Beginning with a dish of zucchini, tomatoes, parsley, cannellini beans, and onions. I garnished it with a drizzle of olive oil as well.

A very crowded pan.

Served over whole wheat couscous.

Next up we have a Lebanese bean dip which will shock you by not being authentic in the least as I had no idea where to procure canned fava beans. Middle Eastern grocery might be the answer, I suspect, just remember: Demon Cold.

Actually ended up being a lot blander than I cared for.

I’m noticing as I post these pictures that I was eating a lot of tomatoes and parsley and beans. Ah, healthy and gassy.

And the pictures I will leave you with–there is a restaurant review tomorrow, I swear it–are what I made for dinner last night. It was very satisfying simple dish of clams and chorizo, further proving that living alone does not condemn one to a life of takeout and microwaved food.  Again, look at Mark Bittman’s blog for recipes very similar to these pictured above.

Spicy and yummy.

With crusty bread, nothing could be finer.
